Why Study in Germany?
6 compelling reasons to choose Germany for your studies.
Tuition-Free Public Universities
15 of Germany's 16 states abolished undergraduate tuition fees for domestic and international students alike. You only pay a semester contribution of €150-€350, which often includes a public transport pass valid across the entire state. Baden-Württemberg charges non-EU students €1,500 per semester, still a fraction of global averages.
Unrivaled Engineering & Automotive Legacy
Home to global giants like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Siemens, and Bosch, Germany offers direct pipeline programs from universities to industry. The 'Mittelstand'—a network of 3.5 million highly specialized SMEs—actively recruits international graduates, particularly in mechanical, automotive, and industrial engineering.
18-Month Post-Study Job Search Visa
Germany offers one of the world's most generous post-study work schemes. Graduates receive an 18-month residence permit to find a job related to their degree. Once employed for two years and paying into the pension system, you become eligible for a settlement permit (permanent residency), often within 5 years of arrival.
Strong Research Funding & Infrastructure
Germany invests 3.14% of its GDP in R&D, significantly above the EU average. The Max Planck Society, Fraunhofer Institutes, and Leibniz Association offer paid research positions (HiWi jobs) to students, often covering living expenses while contributing to cutting-edge projects in AI, quantum computing, and renewable energy.

Admission Requirements
Recognized Bachelor's Degree with Strong CGPA
A 4-year Bachelor's degree (or 3-year with 1-year Master's bridge) is standard. Most competitive programs require a minimum of 2.5 on the German grading scale (equivalent to roughly 70% or 7.0 CGPA in India). Engineering and CS programs often require 2.0 or better.
GRE/GMAT Scores (Highly Recommended)
While not always mandatory, a strong GRE score (315+ for engineering) or GMAT (650+ for management) significantly boosts your application at top-tier universities like TUM, RWTH, and Mannheim. Some programs explicitly require it for international applicants.
English Language Proficiency
Most Master's programs are taught in English. Standard requirements: IELTS Academic 6.5-7.0 or TOEFL iBT 90-100. Some technical universities accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from your Indian university if the entire degree was taught in English.
Statement of Purpose (SOP) & Letters of Recommendation
German SOPs are research-focused, not storytelling. Clearly state your academic interests, specific professors you want to work with, and your thesis proposal idea. Typically, 2 LORs from professors who taught you in your final year are required.
APS Certificate
The APS process is mandatory for Master's applicants too. Apply early, as delays can cause you to miss application deadlines. The certificate is valid indefinitely and is also required for the student visa application.
Test Prep
Ace your standardized exams with free practice tests and study materials.
